RGCF welcomes everyone – from experienced gardeners to total beginners– to join our Community Garden and tend a garden plot (or two, or five…you get the picture!). The garden occupies two acres in the northwest corner of Los Poblanos Open Space, and showcases the gorgeous flower and vegetable garden plots of approximately 100 individuals, schools, and organizations. Garden members give and receive information, gain support, and build friendships as they work alongside one another tending their rows.
Membership in the Community Garden includes the use of our tools, free seeds, weekly furrow irrigation, and a knowledgeable staff member available two days a week to answer all of your gardening questions. The Garden is now accepting applications for some of our available rows. If you have any questions regarding the Community Garden or would like to apply for membership, please email email@example.com.
Albuquerque Area Master Gardeners experiment with new varieties and practices in the Millennium Demonstration Garden located within the Community Garden. They are available weekly to instruct visiting groups and consult with gardeners.
In addition, Alvarado Elementary School maintains a wildlife habitat at the north end of the garden and uses the area for many class activities. School and community groups visit the garden, learn how to grow food, and help maintain the crops and hedgerow.
