Volunteering

Volunteers help seed sunflower pots in the greenhouse in the Spring
Thank you for considering volunteering at Rio Grande Community Farm!
The Farm depends on volunteers to be able to provide all the programs we offer. Everyone is invited to volunteer at the Farm – those under 18 just need to be accompanied by an adult. Training is provided by Farm staff. Volunteers can work at the Community Garden, with educational programs and, for more regular volunteers, with our farmers.
You can also suggest projects you would like to undertake to help the Farm. Past examples are creating compost piles, planting hedgerows for wildlife and compiling bird lists.
We especially need volunteers for the Maize Maze each September and October. This is a good way to get involved with the Farm for the first time or to help out if you only have limited time. Maze volunteers can be greeters, cashiers, Maze attendants, parking lot attendants or help with special events, such as the Haunted Maze or Moonlight Maze. You can also help during weekdays with school and community groups visiting the Maze. Please download the Maze Volunteer Form.
If you are interested in an in-depth experience, you can volunteer as an intern. Interns work full or part-time with the Farm for a number of weeks or months, usually on a non-paid basis. If interested in volunteering or being an intern, complete the Volunteer Form and send your information to us. If you just want general information send a question to: volunteers@riograndefarm.org. Thank You for your interest!
