Our Mission
TO USE A WORKING FARM TO DEMONSTRATE SUSTAINABLE URBAN AGRICULTURE
RGCF serves as a model of a self-funded sustainable small urban organic farm. The spirit of sustainable farming practices includes ethical treatment of everyone associated with the organization.
ENHANCE URBAN WILDLIFE HABITAT
RGCF plants wildlife crops, maintains and enhances wildlife habitats and provides wildlife education.
RESEARCH AND INTERPRET THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PEOPLE, FOOD AND PUBLIC LAND
RGCF builds the relationships between people, food and public land by involving citizens in producing healthy organic food for the local market and by providing education and events to celebrate food and agriculture traditions.
CREATE EDUCATION AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES IN AGRICULTURE
RGCF provides a range of opportunities for community members to learn how to grow food. Workshops, internships, volunteer opportunities and collaborations with schools, faith communities and other community organizations all help preserve and transmit agricultural knowledge.
CELEBRATE THE TRADITIONS AND CULTURE OF AGRICULTURE
RGCF maintains the Farm’s acequias, grows and saves heritage seeds, sponsors special member activities, hosts public events, and participates in community events sponsored by other organizations to celebrate agricultural traditions and practices.
